On February 28, 2024, a kick-off meeting for the new research project “Impact of European Policies on Socio-Economic Development and Public Policies in Croatia (EUROIMPACT)” was held at the Institute for Development and International Relations. The project leader, Dr. Jakša Puljiz, introduced the team members to the key objectives and features of the project, which is funded under the Program Agreement between IRMO and the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia. The main goal of this research project is to create a more detailed scientific understanding of the processes by which European Union policies affect the economic, political, and social development of the Republic of Croatia. During the 48-month project duration, researchers will focus mainly on two areas: (1) the impact of EU Cohesion policy on member states and the formation of national public policies with a focus on Croatia; and (2) the impact of EU membership and technological changes on industrial relations in Croatia.

Specifically, the research team will investigate the effects of Cohesion policy on: socio-economic development at the national level; territorial development; and the formation of public policies in areas with the greatest impact from EU funds. In the part of the project related to industrial relations, emphasis will be placed on the impact of the European Semester on the activities and features of social partners at the national and European levels; the role of modern states within the system of industrial relations; sectoral social dialogue development; the impact of social dialogue on public policies; and the consequences of technological changes on labor market development and industrial relations. Dr. Hrvoje Butković, Ivana Biondić, Matea Roknić, Antun Dujmović, and Dragana Markanović are also participating in the project.
